Our Story
Amy + Jody
We bought our 4-½ acre farm in Carencro, Louisiana in March 2018. Jody wanted a piece of property where he could turn his love of gardening into a farm business. Amy wanted a modern, comfortable home that wasn't too far out of Lafayette. After searching for a year, we finally stumbled upon a small piece of property just north of Lafayette in Carencro.
The Name
We have fig trees in our front and back yards. After making preserves and labeling them "Front Yard Figs" and "Back Yard Figs" we thought, maybe we're on to something.
We call ourselves Front Yard Farm because much of the farming we do is in the “front” of our property. Our house sits in the middle of the property, so our front yard is around 2-acres of gardens, fruit trees and a greenhouse. Just in case you are curious, our backyard is a pond and two acres of woods, where we gather many pecans and forage mushrooms throughout the year.

Farm History
The farm was originally owned by Marilyn Schiller, formerly of Lafayette. Marilyn and her sister Susan grew cut flowers for sale at local farmers markets under the name Le Dames de Fleur. Sadly, Marylin passed away suddenly in 2017.
